A Quick Chat with Gardens of God

07/02/14

With Maceo Plex’s first set in London since Tobacco Dock on the horizon, here’s a preview of Gardens of God who will play alongside Maceo on the night. This is his very first gig under this alias and we’re all expecting big things! His debut EP will be released on Maceo’s imprint Ellum – embracing the floaty deep sound of the label you can be sure he’s going to fly up through the ranks of house and techno in no time.  With the previews on Soundcloud already attracting a lot of heat, press play and find out a little more about the man…

Tickets are very limited for the Friday now!

How would you describe the Sounds of Gardens of God?
Melancholic, mystic and dark deep house with elements of Progressive House and Techno.

Have you played in London before and what are you most looking forward to about playing with Maceo, at the Ellum showcase later this month?
It’s my very first gig as Gardens of God and I’m really excited about it! Looking forward to playing and see reactions from the people and Maceo himself.

Most DJs spend all of their time in the studio or gigging. What do you like to do to chill out when you are not doing one of these?
Cook food, watch movies and spending the time with my family is the best thing to do with my free time.

Tell us a little more about your forthcoming release on Ellum…
The Deep, dark and growing title track was inspired by the myth of Ville d’Ys city which was blown by the sea. It’s an absolutely universal track. You can listen to it at the daytime or at night – You can start your DJ set with it or put it at the peak time. It works well on so many levels and is really versatile.

The other track titled ‘Are We’ is a collaboration with great vocalist Egle Sirvydyte. A beautiful song to listen to at home or to dance to in a club. The last but by no means least is dance floor killer Apnea.

Five producers that you think we should be keeping a close eye on in 2014?
You should keep your eye on Lithuanian electronic music producers, I’d say.
