Alan Fitzpatrick Interview

We can still feel the power of the beats that Alan Fitzpatrick has brought to Drumcode Halloween over the past few years, and after last year we’re still feeling the rumble. A staple member of the Drumcode crew, we caught up with Alan to talk about the state of UK techno, what it’s like to be in the Drumcode family, and the evolution of the brand in London.

Hi Alan. Thanks for taking the time to speak with LWE. What have you been up to, good summer?

No Problem, Yeah its been a super busy summer. I am in Miami at the moment for the first day of my North American tour. Also had a decent festival season and travelled to some really cool places. Musically my remix for Trus’Me and my Cocoon release have been doing extremely well. I have a new Drumcode release coming in October too!.

Excited to have you back with LWE for this year’s event where we’ll be bringing in Awakenings too – What are you most looking forward to about playing at the new venue?

Yeah it’s going to be massive. I am excited to see the production and I am assuming it will be amazing with Awakenings involved. Every year this event gets bigger and better. The line up is the best I have seen in London for years and I am most excited to see some of the acts perform and for us all to do our thing in a much bigger environment.

Will you be dressing up in any Halloween themed attire?

You will just have to wait and see! I might get out the Bain mask again!

What’s the best thing about being part of the Drumcode family?

The most fun part is the shows of course, hanging out together, playing music and making each other laugh. It’s nice to share moments with like-minded people. We all look forward to the events with each other.

Who parties the hardest when on tour?

We all give it a good go! Adam parties pretty hard to be fair! I’d like to think I am up there too!

What’s been your favorite/stand out memory from one of the past Halloween Drumcode shows?

The last time I played, I had a great time slot. The production and sound was fantastic and I had a lot of friends that came to hang out after my set, so that was a special one.

If we were to walk into your studio what would we see?

Mogwai, Gremlins, a giant Darth Vader, a scale model of the Delorean from Back to the Future, a rubix cube, 3 cdjs, 2 1210’s, a Xone 92 mixer and a lot of studio gear. Oh and various big speakers haha!

We understand you are starting a new collaborative project with Reset Robot, what can you tell us about that?

Yes correct, we have a project called Customer. The first release was on our new Whistleblower label, so go check it out. We will be playing b2b a lot in the future. Its exciting to tour and make music with one of your best mates.

Any other projects or releases you can shout about?

I am working on a lot of music at the moment, I have solo much unreleased stuff. The most exciting new news though is my next Drumcode EP is coming on October 27th, a 4 track EP which I am very excited about.

Favorite horror film?

Texas Chainsaw Massacre
