‘Biomorph’ Enrico Sangiuliano Recalls

11/09/18

It’s been three months since ‘Biomorph’ Enrico Sangiuliano released his debut album on Drumcode Records. Many of those tracks are still doing damage on the dancefloor. The Italian producer rose to prominence on the label thanks to his hits Astral Projection and Moon Rocks.

Sangiuliano is back at Tobacco Dock for the second consecutive year, lining up alongside fellow labelmates at Drumcode Halloween. Ahead of his highly anticipated return to East London, we spoke to him about his concept album.

“Biomorph” Enrico Sangiuliano recalls: fragments of my album in daily life…

01 – SYMBOSIS

Biomorph01

This is one the original shots we had in Milan, from which we got the cover of the album. As “Biomorph” is aliving being represented artificially, the biomorphic mask modelled on the shapes of my face, becomes one with my human being.

In this case, the concept of Biomorph can be intended as an instrument that facilitate the “Symbiosis” between man and nature. At the same time, between man and machine.

02 – COSMIC RATIO

Biomorph02

This huge sculpture is called “Time and Space” and it’s in Ibiza. It comprises of 13 pillars of basalt in an area of 24 meters in diameter that follow the Fibonacci sequence.

Exactly the same proportions used to build my track Cosmic Ratio, which is based on the the most known natural proportion: the Golden Ratio.

03 – FUNCTIONAL BASIC UNIT OF LIFE

Biomorph03

Would you ever say that there are unicellular micro-organisms in this place?

According to science, this landscape is probably very similar to the one that accommodated “Functional Basic Unit Of Life” (cell) millions of years ago when they first appeared. Subsequently they evolved into all the living organisms that we know today. This means that we all have the same origin.

(P.S. This is in Chile – go check it out!)

04 – ARBOREAL

Processed with Snapseed.

We are living beings descended from plants. we progressively took our distance from the nature and its biological evolution and became dependent from evolution. In this case we are closer to our arboreal origins.

05 – NEW DAWN

Biomorph05

The future has not been written. A “New Dawn” is what we must strive for. Moving towards A future in harmony with machines is the best hope we can have. Cheers from South Africa!
