Interview

Cristoph

01/03/16

We can now reveal that Cristoph joins the Knee Deep In Sound room at Hot Since 82’s next London show. Having released with Noir Music, Knee Deep in Sound, Suara, Selador, Underground Audio and Material; it’s easy to see the pedigree that Cristoph has, with Pete Tong’s seal of approval as a “Future Star” firming this up.

Growing up, Cristoph was influenced by the sounds of his fathers Motown vinyl, paired with his older brother’s Chicago and Detroit house and techno cassettes. This nurtured a passionate love for music from an early age, with him citing Masters at Work as early impressers. After a teenage phase of instrument playing and production testing, it was the coming of age club culture that really opened Cristoph’s eyes to the desire of a DJ career.
And what a career so far it has been and he continues to grow from strength to strength.

Listen to his Transmittance record released on KDIS…

We caught up with Cristoph to find out a little more about him aside from the music. Read the interview below…

Describe your style in 3 words…

Dark, driving and melodic

Tea or Coffee?

Tea if I had to choose, but not a huge fan of either.

What’s been your stand out memory behind the decks recently?

I would probably say playing back in my hometown of Newcastle just before Christmas. I played a 3 hour set at a night called ‘Loop’ which is such an amazing party. A lot of my family and close friends were there, so that added to it being a sell out event made an unbelievable atmosphere. Having that extra hour or so to play allowed me to control the crowd a lot more and take them on a journey which is what I love to do.

Have you got any follow up releases planned with Knee Deep In Sound?

Nothing is set in stone as of yet but working with Knee Deep In Sound is a dream come true. A lot of the artists I look up to in this industry have either released there or support many of its releases so I will definitely be looking to release more material on the label in the near future.

What else can we expect from you in 2016?

I have a 2 track release (Genesis & Exodus) coming out on Adam Beyer’s Truesoul label on March 7th. After this I have a 4 track EP on Steve Lawler’s Viva Records which I think is dropping around May time.

My tours of Australia and Asia are just getting finalised and I’m hoping to be across to North & South America by the end of summer.

I have quite a few Knee Deep In Sound shows coming up, along with  individual UK and European shows. My Ibiza diary is also starting to fill up now, which will all be getting announced soon!
