DJ Harvey’s long-lasting career that roots back to the early 80s and exceptional contribution to electronic music scene give him a legend status.
Born in London, he started off as a drummer in punk bands such as Ersatz in Cambridge. Getting inspired by Hip Hop sound on his trip to New York, he got into the movement being part of a graffiti crew. In the mid-80s, he began to DJ and moved his interest to house and garage genres.
The turn of 80s and 90s saw Harvey’s involvement in Tonka Sound System, with whom he was throwing raves in Cambridge, London and Brighton. Often lasting whole weekend or carrying on until midday on Brighton’s rocky beach.
By 1991, he had established himself as a DJ and was running his own night “Moist” at the Gardening Club in London. Followed by a residency at Ministry Of Sound – which led to release of Late Night Sessions. Black Cock label, which he launched back then with Gerry Rooney, has become an icon in the EDM industry. Soon he abandoned rainy London for Hawaii, where he got married and founded a gallery and a nightclub, Thirtyninehotel. He then moved to the USA to reside in Los Angeles.
2014 saw the release of his album under the name of Wildest Dreams, which was very well received. He was also awarded for his outstanding contribution at the International Dance Awards in Ibiza.
