LWE NYD 2015 Preview

16/10/14

The first day of 2014 marked a landmark day for House and Techno in the capital as London Warehouse Events opened the doors of Tobacco Dock for its first electronic music event. The birth of the new year will set the benchmark for more events in 2015, with a lineup that more than rivals last year’s running order; plus more to be announced in the coming weeks. Here’s a look at some of the artists playing LWE NYD 2015…

ART DEPARTMENT

Art Department

Art Department’s refusal to follow the trends has given them the freshest arsenal of beats to rock-out-to globally; making them a dancefloor phenonomen and the perfect fit for LWE NYD. Fans of the duo will be pleased to know their second album should be out later this month, which takes them into a new maturer direction.

The Martinez Brothers

Hailing from the Bronx The Martinez Brothers will bring their New York inspired swagger that infuses a stripped back blend of techno, minimal and hip hop with the ethos of cutting loose at the heart. Earlier this year the the best-friend-brothers and like-minded house heads teamed up with Seth Troxler to announce a brand new label Tuskegee.

Visionquest (3 hours)

Visonquest will play for 3 hours on New Year’s Day… Composed of Lee Curtiss, Ryan Crosson & Shaun Reeves, the trio are renowned for their sun-kissed sound that combines blissful melodies, with tripped out basslines. With high energy house in every set, there is still a very experimental and ambient tendency too, which will definitely be expressed in their longer set.

Benoit & Sergio (Live)

Next in line we have Benoit & Sergio whose groundbreaking and original style is best described as a foot jerking blend of French girls, wine and Ferraris. The French/US duo has numerous musical delights on their repertoire, and before every set they “look at each other and one says “This is It,” invoking the creepy spirit of Michael Jackson.”

Guti (Live)

After that is Desolat’s Guti- an artist who has fully absorbed by his family’s musical genes, with latin rhythm and fire running through his blood his live sets are second to none. A classically-trained jazz virtuoso and rock ‘n’ roll hero in Argentina the musicianship and authenticity in his productions puts bedroom producers techniques to shames.https://soundcloud.com/rompecorazones/guti-a-long-good-bye-recorded-live-in-buenos-aires-in-july-of-2014

Subb-an

It only takes listening to Subb-an’s recent essential mix to see the exceptional ear the Berlin based producer has, and if you saw him at Tobacco Dock in August you’ll remember his unrivalled talent on the decks.

Kim Ann Foxman

For the past few years Kim Ann Foxman has been brewing a club cult following across the globe; crisscrossing everywhere from Japan to Cologne and Chicago establishing herself as one of the most sought after DJs on the circuit. Now on her own musical journey Kim is now paying a way for herself artistically.

Kerb Staller

The Leftroom imprint marks a milestone 50 releases this October, offering up the ‘Four Fingers’ EP from Matt Tolfrey and jozif under their newly formed Kerb Staller guise.

jozif

jozif will play under his own personal moniker at the event as well as teaming up with Tolfrey to bring his new alias.
