Pandora Drive

01/12/15

Ahead of their first performance at Tobacco Dock we caught up with the illusive Pandora Drive to chew the fat. Introducing Thomas and Nick who make up this production and DJ duo, making glimmers across the scene.

What’s been your best New Year’s memory?

Nick: for me probably Mexico last year playing on a beach in Playa Del Carmen!
Thomas: Watching the sunrise at Bronte Beach in Sydney, we held onto the rope that surrounded the natural swimming pool on the waters edge as huge waves crashed headlong into us. That was a great start to the year.

What’s been the highlight of 2015 for you so far?

Both: Releasing our first record Hurricane and seeing support from some of the artists we’ve always looked up to, for example Sasha opening his set with the Booka Shade mix and our first ever Pete Tong and Annie Mac on Radio 1.

5 tracks you’ve loved to play this year?

It’s been amazing to see reactions to our first record ‘Hurricane’ this year, we’ve been playing the Maya mix a fair bit!

But apart from that i’d say:

Best memory behind the decks in 2015?

Both: To see our visuals come to life for the first time when we played with Blond:ish, Uner and Technasia at Ministry of Sound in August was pretty special! Another highlight would be Sub Club in June, such an amazing venue!
Favourite festival stage?

Nick: We will get back to you after next years festival debuts 😉 From my clubbing experience as a punter though, I loved Melt festival in Germany. Would be a dream to play there or Glasto!

Thomas: I used to work at Glasto being a West Country boy so I’m a big fan of that dance tent, and the atmosphere of the main stage.

If we were to walk into your studio what would we see?

Nick: A cat… Amongst my Focal monitoring, Maschine, Moog Slim Phatty, a bunch of keyboards and some new analog bits on order to arrive in January!

Thomas: Im also a photographer and video director so aside from my recording equipment i have loads of lighting and backdrops and pictures everywhere.

Dry January?

Nick: Probably not, with Mexico around the corner again, Tequila & Taco’s!
Thomas: I would like to say yes, in fact, ok dammit I’m gonna say yes. Heres to hoping.

Any New Years resolutions?

Nick: Must join a gym!
Thomas: I must actually go to the gym i’ve joined.
What’s your next release?

Both: We have our next big release ‘Unoriginal Sin’ coming around February time, Thomas just finished the video last week! We will release a teaser on Christmas Eve and drop the video in early Feb.
What can we expect to hear from you in 2016?

Both: We have a bunch of new records ready to go, along with a few more video’s in the series. Our main focus at the moment is the music, so we are busy working on new material and finishing tracks. 2016 will see a flurry of underground releases, remixes, artwork and videos and some big Pandora Drive singles an EP and possibly an album. We are also developing a comic book based on the project.
