Paul Kalkbrenner has announced his eighth LP, Parts Of Life.
Parts Of Life is scheduled for release on Friday 18th May and once again comes via Sony International. It is the first studio material since 2015’s 7 but also marks a decade since his acclaimed OST to cult-classic Berlin Calling. The 15 tracks each retain the file numbers which Kalkbrenner used in production, yet are not ordered numerically. You can preview the lead-single, Part Three below:
The cover art – a painting by his uncle Paul Eisel – depicts a collection of personal effects. Arbitrary paraphernalia that we accumulate throughout life. Most present insignificant meaning to others, but we attribute sentimental value – they are parts of a life. It should come as no surprise that the material takes inspiration from Paul’s 2016 mixtape series Back To The Future – a love-letter to the dance music of the 80s & 90s. It could be his most personal and revealing work yet.
To coincide with the launch of the new album, Paul Kalkbrenner is embarking on an international tour with a difference. Whilst he is accustomed to 10,000+ capacity festivals, stadium-sized crowds and sell-out arenas, Paul is looking to get back closer to his audience with a series of more intimate showcases. Already confirmed are stops at The Rex Club in Paris and Amsterdam’s Shelter, but we reveal Paul will play LWE’s brand new location for the London leg. As with our past two collaborations with Paul, we’re expecting demand to outweigh availability, in what is set to be the biggest gig of the tour. With Parts Of Life dropping worldwide in mid-May, Kalkbrenner returns to London on Thursday 10th May – so expect an advance listening of his hotly-anticipated new material!
Tickets are on sale now.
Details regarding the venue’s location will be unveiled on 5th April.
