Spectrum Returns: Preview

21/01/14

The artists that will be helping us to celebrate the return of Spectrum after a 2 year break have been revealed! Having already announced the highly sought after Kill The Noise, the team behind Spectrum have rustled up a monster of a lineup for the event at Fire next month, and here’s a short preview of what will be on offer!

Kill The Noise

After a massive year in 2014 working closely with the likes of Skrillex and OWSLA, Kill the Noise has showed a desire to release more material on his own imprint Slow Roast Records. “I work with him (Skrillex) on so much shit. It’s gotten to the point now where I’m trying to put more of my energy, more of my tunes out on Slow Roast.” Whereas in the past most of the people releasing on Slow Roast were friends, and having established himself as being at the forefront of electronic music stateside, KTN see’s a new direction for his label. “This is going to be the first year we’re working on spreading our wings so to speak, going with other people that we’re just discovering.”

One of the stars of the ever expanding ship that is RAM Records, Calyx & Teebee have built u a soid rep for their no nonsense approach to delivering you with the best DNB. Since this duo paired up, and whether they are in the studio or behind the decks, their quality is second to none.  A Skillz

Needing no introduction to those that are in tune with the breaks scene, A Skillz is one of the movement’s original players who helped to shape an define the turntablistic mentality breaks embraces. Well known for his fun fuelled track selection, double speed reload style and cutting up samples has helped to create the name he has today with so much respect from his peers.

Major Look

Fronted by Stapleton Major Look’s sound embraces everything that is good in the vibrantly eclectic world of London’s underground electonic community.  Drawing on a variety of influences from bass to the reggae the vocalist really manages to capture that carnival feel with steel drums, reverb and heavy low end a prominent feature in his tracks.

Brillz

Working closely with good friend Kill The Noise, Brillz is another one who is making big moves stateside. We’re not quite sure how to describe his sound, but we’re pretty sure that this guy is going to become a heavyweight within the Bass scene. He calls it Twonk – “Just making drums and synths and different grooves and ideas and just feeling the twonk of it all!”
