The ABODE journey has been a monumental one. An expedition of epic size. It gets us emotional when we think back to all of the parties that we have shared with you all. From humble beginnings to hosting celebrations in some of the most sought-after locations, we share with you the most pivotal moments from ABODE’s remarkable pilgrimage towards global domination.
We have to go back to the very beginning – Sunday 7th September 2014. A date that will live on in clubbing infamy. A stellar line-up consisting of wAFF, Dyed Soundorom and Audiofly marked the dawn of a new era. That line-up would still do the damage today. Though we’ve come a long way since, we will never forget our past.
Arguably the party that really put ABODE on the map, starting what would become an annual tradition of mobbed out Halloween parties. Nic Fanciulli and Leon packed in the punters dressed head to toe in ghoulish fancy dress.
The Grade II listed building in Wapping is truly a jewel in London’s clubbing crown. So when we were given the opportunity to host our second birthday party there, we jumped at the chance. Darius Syrossian and co. laid further claim to the fact that nobody does Halloween in London quite like ABODE.
With ABODE rapidly becoming the party that defined a new generation of clubbers, the next natural step was to create a label wing of the business – a place to house our residents’ productions as well as some of industry’s leading underground artists. In August 2016 our debut release landed, with contributions from Franky Rizardo, Citizenn & Franky Rizardo soon following.
The tail end of 2016 saw the start of a new project, HotBed. With a focus on the classic funky house sound and aimed at a more mature market, HotBed stepped up from the shadow of ABODE. Now our sister-party is a trailblazer in its own right, with a residency at Ocean Beach in Ibiza plus a brunch series in the capital. Air sax included.
London’s newest state-of-the-art venue – the cavernous former print facilities in Canada Water – was calling for the city’s biggest promoters. On 5th March 2017 we SOLD OUT without even releasing a line-up. Needless to say, we stole the headlines again.
After a devastating fire ravished the venue and led to tragedy, ABODE spent months in the wilderness as a nomadic entity. But it was always our intention to return to our spiritual home. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Studio 338 was rebuilt as the most cutting edge club in London. We returned to full fanfare on Sunday 19th November. We were home.
Not content with storming the UK and more established party destinations in the Med, we set sights on Gozo – a tiny island off the coast of Malta. Between 8th-11th June 2018 we gave partygoers a bumper, non-stop weekend of thrills with our extended family.
Taking over the most legendary dancefloor in the world – and setting ourselves up for our biggest challenge yet. 16 Thursdays on Amnesia’s terrace, alongside Do Not Sleep. The opening party was full right from the off, with firebrand sets from Solardo and Secondcity plus our esteemed residents.
After the success of year one, we just had to do it all over again. Already confirmed as joining us on 23rd September are some of the biggest names in the industry: Groove Armada, East End Dubs and Santé & Sidney Charles, Steve Lawler, Danny Howard, our residents, and even more. The curtain falls on festival season with a bang. Join our journey.
Groove Armada, East End Dubs, Waze & Odyssey & much, much more play ABODE in the Park 2018 in Finsbury Park on the 23rd September. Tickets still available via Resident Advisor, Ticket Tannoy, Festicket, See, Ticketweb, and other outlets.
