Clubbing with a social conscience is becoming the norm across the UK as increasing numbers of promoters of clubs and festivals ask their prized punters to have a heart. If you’re lucky enough to wind up on the free guest list for one of our events these days, you will be asked for a donation for charity. But where does the money go?
We’ve totalled up the funds raised at our recent events and can announce that a running total of £7944 has been given to a number of different organisations – thank you to all those that donated, your kindness makes both the dance floor and the world a better place!
Breast Cancer Care received the biggest donation, with £2749 raised at April’s SidexSide show, whilst The Alzheimer’s Society also received £1250 from show with elrow at Tobacco Dock in March.
£1519 was raised at the most recent edition of Drumcode Halloween for the campaign to save Fabric, with money gathered at other 2016 events sent to St Mungos homeless charity, as well as and Bridge2Calais. Further funds are to be paid out to the Hackney Winter Night Shelter, the Roy Castle Lung Foundation and Save the Children.
This weekend our charity of choice for Junction 2 Festival will be Nature Links – an outdoor learning operation based in Hounslow, in an effort to return something to the local community for allowing us to make a whole lot of noise. As always, remember to give generously before having the time of your lives! We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday.
