UK Techno Preview

For techno lovers Halloween in London has become synonymous with one thing – Drumcode. This year the team behind Drumcode have gone one step bigger, not only will the party be at London’s most unique venue Tobacco Dock, but also they’ve called on Awakenings to bring in some extra bells and whistles.

With techno continuing to blossom in the UK, it’s the homegrown talent that are steering the scene into new directions and exploring fresh new avenues for the genre. The 1st November will represent a chance to see a selection of the best in new British talent, alongside the Drumcode family and more special guests. Here’s a look at some of the artists paving the way for a new wave of techno hailing from the UK…

Alan Fitzpatrick
A massively important member of the Drumcode crew, his sound is a careful balance between the industrial and groovy, that always holds a dancefloor on a knife edge.

Dense & Pika
It would be hard to pick a duo that have caused as much of a stir in electronic music in the last 6 months as Dense & PIka. The pair are hugely popular in London, with their no-nonsense attitude to creating floor defining tracks like “Colt” creating a massive buzz in the capital and beyond. The illusive Bristol based producer has caught the attention of the genres heavyweights. His tunes are deep, yet powerful and driven by the heaviest of basslines and kick-drums that are infused with darkness

Born and raised in London, Geddes is tireless in his quest to inject freshness into his surrounding nightlife and continues to be a consistently fresh source of musical escapades

Flying the flag for the new breed, and at the ripe age of 16 Happa continues on his ascent, with a distinct, dark and moody sound.

Mark d’Ground
LWE resident Mark’ d’Ground is well known by LWE regulars for holding down the fort, and setting the tone from early on with sets that embrace the dancefloor.

Max Cooper
Riding high off the release of his critically acclaimed debut album Human, Max Cooper’s sound offers a deep and melodic vibe that nods to many acoustic nuances.

Mr. G
Needing no introductions, Mr. G has a timeless energy when playing one of his legendary live sets and is part of the furniture when it comes to UK techno.

Paul Woolford
Hard to pidgeonhole and often totally unpredictable Paul Woolford has floated between a variety of different sounds, that’s given him an edge that’s different from the rest.

Reset Robot
Portsmouth based Reset Robot made his first appearance at Drumcode Halloween last year, and is a name that will be increasingly familiar to fans of dubbed-out, moody tech house all over the world.

The man behind Hot Flush, has been monumental in the recent explosion of bass influenced techno in the UK, and continues to stamp his imprint on the scene from his adopted home of Berlin.
