Winter Carnival preview

Inspired by the infinite vibes of carnival, with plenty of rum, and big sounds Toddla T’s Winter Carnival is like nothing else. With the hottest selectors and the best lyricists around you can be sure that Oval Space’s will be dripping with talent. Add to that an explosion of colour and a wall of bass and you’ve got the perfect mix for a party. And that’s even before the drinks start flowing.

Toddla has curated a lineup that brings in a hybrid of UK Jamaican influenced sounds. From garage to grime, dub to bashment he’ll cover all the bases that you know are right for a Winter Carnival.

Redlight

Special guest Redlight, will bring his gritty bass driven house sound, that’s made him hard to pidgeonhole to one sound. Flying the flag for the UK’s bass music scene he’s released on the acclaimed Polydor Records, MTA, Digital Soundboy as well as his own Lobster Boy imprint.

 

Charlie Sloth

Charlie Sloth could be described as a walking, talking, one-man version of the British underground music scene. Boasting the kind of credibility that can only be earned through hard work, skill and an unswerving dedication, Charlie was born and raised in the cultural melting pot of Camden Town and came up through the school of hard knocks that is London’s pirate radio and club world. Fast forward to 2016 and he’s one of the most respected tastemakers in grime and hip-hop and has nurtured plenty of talent through his legendary Fire In The Booth series.

Roll Deep

East London collective formed in 2001, and helped to pioneer the grime scene. Current members are: Wiley, Manga, Target, Scratchy, Breeze, Karnage, Brazen, Flow Dan & J2k. Need we say anymore?

Nadia Rose
Hailing from the ever bubbling South London, Nadia is one of the most hyped names in the grime scene at the moment.

Shola Ama

Shola Ama is one of Britain’s most successful R&B artists, her debut album Much Love sold over 1 million copies scoring Shola 2 top five singles with ‘You Might Need Somebody’ and ‘You’re The One I Love’. The success of “Much Love” culminated in 2 MOBO award wins and 2 Brit Awards- the crowning achievement for an incredible journey. She’ll bring some serious heat to Winter Carnival.

Shola has been consistently writing and recording new material and is now ready to take a step back into the spotlight as well as into the charts.

Manny Norté

Manny is the go to tour DJ for huge international stars like Jay Z, Rihanna and Beyonce and has played all across the UK and Europe at the most esteemed night clubs. For his DJ efforts over the years he won a MOBO and can often be found playing BRIT Award after parties, fashion shows for the likes of Naomi Campbell and was recently invited to be the resident DJ at the F1 Grand Prix in Bahrain. As well as this Manny is a Radio regular who has presented a weekend show on Radio 1 Xtra as well as being on Choice FM with a mix show every Friday night/Saturday morning, with regular live shows recorded at London’s Jazz Café and featuring guests like Roll Deep, Misha B, Lethal Bizzle and many more. Now found on Capital Xtra (formerly Choice FM) Monday to Friday, his experiences and understanding of urban music over the last few decades is unparalleled.

Donae’o

‘I’ve been singing and MCing from time, but I don’t think I found myself musically until house was introduced to me.’ However his diverse talent and skills means he is not one to be limited, so expect the unexpected from the singer, and also expect whatever he comes with to blow you away. Check out his recent collaboration with Giggs, where you can hear his instantly recognisable voice.
