LWE MIX 234: DJ LOVE
LWE MIX 234: DJ LOVE
We sat him down to talk through his inspirations, takes and wider musings around the scene at large. Check out what he had to say:
Who continues to inspire you in the industry?
I think right now, Baugruppe90 have really been keeping things fresh and authentic. Honestly, I spend most days in the studio trying to recreate their drums and synths. They've somehow managed to perfect that old school sound with new school flavour and techniques, and they're sound as.
How do you get in the zone when you're producing?
It's cliché but, couple coffees and a smoke usually locks me in in the mornings. Staying in the zone is the harder part. Unless I manage to get myself into that flow of creating a track I'll probably just abandon it and go play Skyrim.
What are you most excited for in 2025?
I'm finally getting back into releasing music again, felt like I took a bit of an unintentional break but so excited to show everyone what I've got in the locker.
What never leaves your bag when you're travelling / playing out?
My Steam Deck, genuinely the best bit of money I've ever spent. Haven't been bored waiting for trains or planes for about a year now because I can just break out Skate 3 at any point.
If you could change one thing about the music scene right now, what would it be?
DANCING! Not enough people do it and those that do are often judged by those who aren't. There's nothing worse than being at a club where everyone's scared to move because of a fear of being judged. It's rubbish. Dance more.
One track that never fails to revive a crowd?
If I see energy dwindling in the early mornings, I'll try go for something easy on the ears and euphoric. Perfect example of that for me is Octave One - Blackwater. Or Kettama released this track "For What It's Worth (Sunrise Mix)" last year that seems to work with everyone.
How do you find new music?
It really depends, I get sent a load of new music for my Rinse show, but also love going through people's Soundcloud playlists. Some of the best DJs aren't even officially DJs, they just love their music. Found some bangers hiding on playlists called things like "Gunther's 21st bday". Shoutout Gunther.
Club show or festival? Why?
So tricky. I love both and they have completely different appeals for me personally. But you really can't beat a good club night. And festivals can be a logistical nightmare sometimes. I do often find festival crowds are a bit more ready to have fun than a lot of general clubs.
