At Home With LWE: 18th November - Alienata TakeoverWed 18th Nov
Taking over today’s At Home With picks is Spanish-born tastemaker, producer and Discos Atónicos label owner, Alienata.
A self-described sound obsessive whose musical tastes span the deep, dark and hypnotic depths of techno, electro, dub, acid, IDM and beyond, Alienata honed her craft as a resident of Valencia's Overflow Collective before relocating to Berlin where she quickly found a home with the notorious KilleKill party crew. Now a firmly established globetrotter and mainstay of the underground circuit, Alienata continues to dazzle with her highly distinct sonic palette and fast-growing label, Discos Atónicos.
Featured in Alienata’s selection of recent and all time favourites are Tasha, Dave Clarke, Shed, Freddy Fresh, Rebekah, Maelstrom and Louisahhh.
Tasha - Voitax Mix
Oh boy this mix is so wicked and classy! I remember being in the kitchen of my house with Tasha a few weeks ago listening to this mix, and I was asking... whaaaaat is this? I didn't know it was hers! Super selection of drum and bass & jungle and good vibes all the time! Seriously, it's perfect for cooking with all the flow!
Dave Clarke - X-Mix - Electro Boogie (1996)
OMG! I still remember the first time I heard this mix! it drove me totally crazy! I loved "Electro" (among many other styles) but this mix opened a kind of door in my mind.I'm still listening to it after all this time and I still find it perfect, selection and technique. Pure love it.
Shed - Tectonic EP
Such a wicked release! It sounds futuristic but you can guess "the wink". Shed always delivers quality, no matter what path he chooses.
Freddy Fresh - Accidentally Classic (Harthouse, 1996)
I bloody fucking love this album from the bottom of my heart. Has everything... Hip Hop, Electro, Breaks, techno, acid and a lot of Groove! It's always been in my record bag since the day I discovered it, true story!! A genuine masterpiece of electronic music. My hand still trembles when it is the right time to play it! BAM!
A very interesting reading between Rebekah, DJ Empress & Dave Clarke on a topic we need to talk about more than ever: Sexism & Misoginy, Sexual harassment in the dance electronic industry, and how / why "the power" is still at this point, 21st century, clearly "white male dominant".
Maelstrom & Louisahhh - Ascender (Official Video directed by Dorny Sunday)
This is the official video for Ascender, the title track of Maelstrom and Louisahhh's EP that came out a few weeks ago on my label Discos Atónicos. It's been a while since I've seen a video clip that captures the essence of music so well. When Dorny Sunday sent us the final video I swear I got excited and almost cried! Everything fits with the track: the choreography, the space, the characters, the atmosphere... so intense & emotional! In love!
