Another weekend has passed, and we’re still here to jumpstart your week with an electrifying selection of our favourite tracks and mixes by some of today’s top artists including Nicolas Lutz, Margaret Dygas, Lauren Lo Sung, DJ Bone, and Marco Carola.
Nicolas Lutz thrilled The Woods’ crowd at last year’s edition of Junction 2 with an outstanding B2B with minimal powerhouse Sonja Moonear. In this mix, the Berlin-based Uruguayan beat-explorer charters through the infinite seas of non-conformist electronic music, providing a superlative 3-hour set that is bound to set you on the right path for this week.
Set to take part at this year’s postponed Junction 2, Margaret Dygas boasts her international musical background with an enchanting array of deep and dub-infused minimal at the closing party of iconic Berlin Bar 25, back in 2011. We can’t wait to have her set the tone at Junction 2 2021.
Another one with a Junction 2 past, Liverpool based Lauren Lo Sung took The Stretch by storm at last year’s Junction 2. In her latest EP ‘Momentum’ Lauren concocts a groovy mixture of driving percussion, funky basslines, and splashy synths, proving why she’s been acclaimed by both listeners and fellow DJs alike, including Rhadoo, Archie Amilton and East End Dubs.
One of Detroit’s finest vinyl spinners, DJ Bone’s uncompromising and true-to-the-soul techno is in full swing in his track ‘Cultural Variance’. In the track, four to the floor kick drums are complemented by bubbly pads and tribal vocals, providing a standout masterpiece that will definitely set aside your monday blues.
Minimal music’s growth in the past 30 years has been incredibly strange. Minimal has taken the world by storm in a literal sense, with its once-upon-a-time derided, yet now distinguishable sound bubbling up across the globe, from Detroit to Romania, passing through Rome, Paris, and Berlin. In this article Henry Ivry explores the history of the genre and how it’s become a world-wide favourite.
Marco Carola needs no introduction. The Naples born and bred DJ, producer and label head has brought Techno Napoletano all across the world with grandiose, energetic sets, allowing him to become an outright Techno Ambassador. His live set at Space Miami has been a blessing during lockdown, as he delves across the multiple meanders of past and modern Techno and Tech House, proving why he is one of the most in-demand DJs out there.
