For today’s At Home With we touch base with German techno devotee and underground leading lady, Black Lotus.
Berlin born and bred, Black Lotus is a techno slatwart in her home nation, building her reputation with ecstatic and formidable sets at renowned venues such as KitKat, Griessmuhle & Golden Gate before exporting her mind-tripping sounds to european festivals such as Exit and Forte. Although she runs her own imprint - ‘Luminal Records’ - her debut production was released by FLASH in 2018, with whom her latest release ‘Superconductor’ bears the relentless and abstract hallmarks that have made her so in demand across the techno underground.
Her selections include Par Grindvik, Anthony Rother, a release from her newly created sub-label 27 and much more.
Join me on this time-travel and let’s groove to the 90´s and back!
One night, bored at home, I had the fantastic spontaneous idea to go out all by myself, and while checking all the strange names on Berghain´s bill, “Pär Grindvik” caught my attention — I typed it into the search engine, and there it was: one of my favourite and most played podcasts to this date - Invite´s Choice #091. Thank me later!
Researcher at heart, with the goal of experimentation and the promotion of young up-and-coming talents, this year I launched my sub-label named “27”. You can hear its first release here — constructed by Madrilenian scientist ‘Vibrations of Gravity’ using fractal patterns. Safe trip!
Was hard to pick an all time favourite, so I`mma leave you with this timeless piece from Anthony, that everyone should know. This is how Berlin sounded in the 2000´s! Take me back.
I love books, papers and articles, and I´d love to share some precious gems with you but shedding light onto this topic is too rare, so here you go. Please take care of your ears — you have only one pair.
Here’s an amazingly inspiring clip from one of the strongest TED talks out there. Her words are just hitting different. R. I. P. Emily Levine.
