In today's At Home With we catch up with Scotland’s rising house star, Ewan Mcvicar.
Bursting onto the scene in 2020, McVicar has captured the attention of the industry with a string of emphatic club cuts for the likes of Patrick Topping's Trick, Shall Not Fade and Nervous Records. Having received rave reviews from the likes of Pete Tong, Annie Mac and Fatboy Slim, Ewan is hotly tipped for another big year ahead,
His selection of recent and all time go-tos include Dan Shake, Tsuin, Patrick Topping, 2pac, The Hacienda and more.
I’ve chosen my new mix for LWE as my favourite recent mix. For the mix I pictured finally coming out of lockdown and playing a set full of energy. I visioned nice house tracks for the first half and a free for all for the second. Then finishing off with a ‘wan mare tune’ encore from the crowd and playing Boys Noize - Dynamite I frequently vision this in my head. Get me oot playing rapid please!!!
Dan Shake’s effortless journey through a segment of the Dance Mania back catalogue always helps me focus on quality of mixing as well as tune selection. This perfectly balanced mix is one of my favourite all time mixes because it is a blueprint of how I want all my sets to be. Old skool timeless tracks bundled into 1 hour of pure fun.
I released under Posthuman’s Balkan Vinyl sub-label ‘Metro Jaxx’ a few years back under mine and Steven Simpson’s moniker ‘Granary 12’ and it has become a go to label for me to find new quality acid house. This fairly new released track was a stand out for me as it was one of the last tracks I heard before the UK went into lockdown. Steven and I were playing at Bangface March 2020 and Tsuin was playing at one of the stages on Day 1 of the festival. He played this track in his set and I have been eager for it’s release ever since. Fucking. Monster.
