At Home With: Tailor Jae

Wed 17th Feb

One of London’s most exciting young talents, Tailor Jae joins us for today’s At Home With.

Bursting on the scene with an emphatic win at MixMag’s 2017 DJ Quest competition, the East London selector has been on an exponential rise ever since. Capturing a global audience with her bass heavy, rave-centric fusion of eclectic club cuts, she has supported the likes of Peggy Gou, Artwork and MJ Cole and delivered one of the top RA mixes of last year. Hotly tipped as one to watch for 2021, she will be joining our heavyweight lineup for Tobacco Dock Virtual Opening Weekend on April 2nd and 3rd alongside Chase & Status, Wilkinson, Sherelle, Camo & Krooked and Flava D among others.

Tailor Jae’s selection of recent and all time favourites include Dizzee Rascal, Yosh, Seal & Adamski, DMX and more.

A Recent Mix:

Tailor Jae - RA Mix

I made this at a time when my brain was all over the place, but in a way I think it helped make the mix what is. It’s a blend of everything, bass heavy vibes and I hope people can vibe out to this while we continue to wait for the parties to recommence.

An All Time Favourite:

Dizzee Rascal, D Double E, Skibadee, Funsta, Harry Shotta & Ruffstuff - Kool FM '07 Mix

Dizzee on DnB, he rides it so well. All the MC’s are sick but Dizzee is a standout for me on this one. Just straight fire

A Recent Standout Release:

Yosh - One more time EP

Yosh is smashing it, love his take on breakstep it’s so sick, his break work is phenomenal, tight and punchy.

An All Time Favourite:

Adamski & Seal - Killer

For me it’s just the juxtaposition, it’s pure gold. The soulful vocals, heavy baselines and squelching synths. Pure brilliance.

A Good Read:

You Do You by Sarah Knight

It’s about learning to accept who you are, and being confident in who you are. Understanding it’s ok to be yourself. It’s a funny book the writer is very care free and open, it’s a good read.

Something To Watch:

Ruff Ryders Chronicles Documentary

One of my favourite rappers is DMX and I remember watching this and being in absolute awe of his journey, the rejections, his addiction battle and so many losses before he finally got a win and his career started to take it off, was a real motivation for me.
