RE-TEXTURED: The multi-sensory festival heading to Tobacco Dock this April

Fri 31st Jan

RE-TEXTURED is a multi-venue, multi-sensory festival for London and the UK. The festival explores the relationship between experimental electronic music, modernist and industrial architecture and light and visual art, and is brought to you by the team behind Krankbrother.

Re-textured London

Krankbrother Director Danny Clancy says: "RE-TEXTURED at Tobacco Dock is our most ambitious show to date. It’s one of the few buildings in London that allows us to fulfil our ambitions across light, sound and visual art, it's unique structures, rooms and history have inspired us to push the edge a little more."

Re-textured London

Across 4 rooms, RE-TEXTURED have invited 20 artists at the forefront of experimental music. Each room will take a different musical direction from hard, fast live techno in the Car Park with the UK debut of Paula Temple and SNTS (live) and a world premiere of Rodhad (live), to a dedicated AV room with live AV shows from Actress, Emptyset and Afrodeutsche exploring glitch, experimental and industrial. Lastly, the main room will feature DJ sets from Helena Hauff and Ben UFO amongst others, and a very special one off live set from Clark. It’s a line-up for the curious and bold.

For the first time ever there will also be a special new room opened with surprise sets still to be announced and a specially commissioned film by one of the most radical names in digital art.

Re-textured London

Each room will also explore RE-TEXTURED’s themes of RE-CONNECT through light, visual art and performance, in collaboration with creative director Hannah Marshall and visual artist Theresa Baumgartner to create a place where people can come to escape their digital lives and be fully immersed and embedded in a world of sound, light and space.

Re-textured London

The Great Gallery will play host to a world of strobe, haze and custom light installations, whilst the car park will follow a rawer aesthetic to match the faster BPMs combining in dramatic fashion with live performance. In the Little Gallery, each artist will take the audience in a different direction through their Live AV performances. Rarely do you get a line-up of AV artists of this calibre in one room!

Re-textured London

Party-goers can expect 10 hours of ground-breaking music, where the music and art world collide. Those that know, know. Those that are curious stand to be blown away.
